FAQs

Common questions regarding branding irons and custom orders.

How do I heat my branding iron?

Our branding irons can be heated with a propane torch, fire pit, forge, or charcoal or gas grill. Begin by putting on a pair of thick gloves (such as leather gloves) to protect your hands. Simply hold the brander in the heat source until it starts to turn a dull red color. This will take approximately 5 minutes, depending on the size of the brander and the heat source. Once the brander is hot enough, remove from heat source and apply firm even pressure to the surface for about 3 seconds. If you are branding wood, you may notice a small flame and smoke.

How long are the handles?

Our smaller branders (approximately 3.5" or smaller) include a 12" loop handle. Our larger branders include a 30" long branch style handle.

Will I get to see what my brander will look like before it is made?

We will send a proof of a custom brander for your approval. Expect to receive the proof via email within 24-48 hours of your order being placed.

How long will it take to get my order?

It will take approximately 1-2 weeks to complete a custom order. The finish time depends on when the actual order and proof approval are received. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about a specific turnaround time.

I would like to order something different than what is in your shop. How do I do that?
